The Chipper body is typically a steel dump bed with steel sides and roof with a half gate in the rear and is used by tree trimmers and landscapers to catch wood chips from a tree chipper. Chopping a tree into a huge number of small pieces is a convenient way to put into small space, but as a tree is very heavy, the chips are now the tree, so it is extremely easy to overload a Chipper Body. The vast majority of Chipper Bodies that you might see around the neighborhood or on the road are medium duty rigs of between 22,000 GVWR and 30,000 GVWR. Chipper Bodies on smaller GVWR chassis may have to dump their load more often. Some manufacturers offer bodies made out of aluminum to allow for more cargo capacity.
